Ronald Hessler, ophthalmologist at the Luther Midelfort Eye Care Center, will present a lecture titled “The Aging Eye – What to ‘Look’ For” at the second of the spring 2009 Optimal Aging Lecture Series to be held from noon-1 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, at the Red Cedar Medical Center—Mayo Health System in Menomonie.
As the human eye matures throughout adulthood, many changes occur that can affect vision and comfort. Hessler will discuss vision tools such as multifocal glasses and low vision aids; internal eye diseases like cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and changes to the external eye such as dryness, allergy and skin and eyelid changes.
The three-part Optimal Aging Lecture Series is a partnership between UW-Stout and Red Cedar Medical Center. The series is designed to explore topics related to the field of gerontology with faculty, students, practitioners and consumers. The final lecture of the series will be held Wednesday, April 15, and will focus on financial and estate planning.
The talk is free and will be held in the Education Center. A light lunch will be provided. Parking is available in the east parking lot. Space is limited, so those interested in attending are required to call 715-233-7464 to register.

In lieu of a main speaker this year, we will be hosting a series of mini demonstrations throughout an extended lunch period so that all attendees can get a bit of something extra special! Details will be posted on our new OH blog site at http://uwstoutoptimalhealth.blogspot.com/
WHEN: Wednesday, April 1st, 2009
The fair begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Please plan to keep your exhibit(s) open for the entire five hours, and to be set up and ready when we open at 10:00 am.

BOOTH: One “booth” will consist of one 6’ table and 2 chairs. Additional booths may be requested.
There will be a $25 fee this year for non-government funded and for-profit organizations and businesses. This nominal fee will help to offset basic set up costs. Thanks for your understanding.
Note: if you plan to bring larger equipment that will be next to your table, please indicate so on the form so that additional space is allowed. There is no fee for additional space.
SET UP: You may begin setting up your booth at 9:00 a.m. Signs will be posted to identify each vendor’s booth. Plan to be completely operational by 9:45 a.m.

Go in the door to the right of the ramp. We will have staff assisting with unloading. Follow the signs on the east side of the building.
